HOW DO I GET MY CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION?

A Certificate of Completion for the 48‐Hour Salesperson Pre‐Examination course will be awarded to you upon completion of course with a passing grade (75%) on the Select University final exam, taken on the final day of the course. All students will be allowed to retest one time within seven days of the course end date to receive a certificate.

COURSE REVIEW

At the end of each 48‐hour course, we offer an optional structured review session where you will be able to ask questions to fully understand material with which you may be struggling.

ARE THERE ADDITIONAL STUDY RESOURCES?

You have access to additional pre‐exam prep materials, including: books, practice exams and more.

HOW HARD IS THE MO REAL ESTATE LICENSE EXAMINATION?

Just like any other test, the difficulty level depends on how well you are prepared. Recent averages indicate about 50% passing and 50% failing. Just make sure you take advantage of the optional course review and all study guides so that you are well prepared. Communication is key. Let your instructor know where you are struggling so he or she can help you through it. If the student fails to study sufficiently there will be difficulty on passing the MREC Exam.

WHO GIVES THE STATE EXAM?

Missouri uses Applied Measurement Professionals (AMP) for testing. Visit their site for testing locations, dates, registrations and fees.

WHAT IS COVERED ON THE TEST?

The test is divided into two sections:

  • National (100 questions): General laws and principles that may be applicable across the entire United States

  • State (40 questions): Covers questions that apply to Missouri

WHAT IS THE PASSING GRADE FOR THE TEST?

You must pass both portions of the test with a minimum of 75% for the State portion (30 of 40 questions correct) and a minimum of 70% on the National portion (70 of 100 questions).

WHAT IF I PASS ONE SECTION AND NOT THE OTHER?

You only have to go back and pass the portion you failed. Missouri gives you six months from the date you completed the course to pass both sections, take the additional 24‐Hour Missouri Real Estate Practice Course and apply for a license.

ARE THERE COURSE REQUIREMENTS OTHER THAN THE 48-HOUR PRE-EXAMINATION COURSE?

Yes. As previously noted, you must also complete the 24‐Hour Missouri Real Estate Practice Course, once you’ve passed the 48‐hour course. This course offers practical applications of the material to the student. Students must complete the coursework and quizzes. There is no final exam for this course.

AM I REQUIRED TO HAVE A REAL ESTATE BROKERAGE COMPANY HOLD MY LICENSE?

Yes. After you pass the test and take the 24‐Hour Missouri Real Estate Practice course, you will bring your application, Certificates of Completion from both the 48‐Hour Salesperson Pre‐Exam and the 24‐Hour Missouri Practice Courses and fingerprinting material to your brokerage of choice. The broker must sign the application, agreeing to supervise you, before sending it to the Missouri Real Estate Commission, with all applicable fees.

HOW DO I FIND A BROKER?

It is up to you to shop around and find a broker that meets your needs and provides the tools you deem necessary to develop into a successful real estate agent.
